DAR members provide millions of hours of community service each year around the world. The Service to America initiative encourages members to become involved in community service to discover the rewards of volunteerism, to demonstrate the positive volunteer opportunities associated with DAR members to others and to help make their local communities a better, more friendly place. DAR members are giving back to their communities in appreciation for the nation they love! Members are challenged to discover the impact they make in their local communities by performing all types of community service. Members volunteer with veterans at their local VA hospitals, make care packages for troops stationed overseas, clean up local parks, work at homeless shelters and food banks, among many other service activities. Proceeds from the Florida Daughters of the American Revolution license plate will benefit the mission of historical preservation, education and patriotism. Membership in the organization is not a pre-requisite for purchase. Women ages 18 and older who can trace their lineage to a patriot who served in the American Revolution are encouraged to visit https://www.dar.org/ for more information about membership. In Florida, presale vouchers for specialty license plates for Auburn University, Georgia University and the University of Alabama are now on sale. 4,000 must be sold before the plate will be manufactured. You can order by clicking here (additional fees apply) or at your local Tax Collector's office or DMV. War Eagle, Bulldog and Crimson 'Roll Tide' are now competing to complete their presell to qualify to be first in line to be created, with Auburn in poll position due to their preferential position on the list approved by the Florida Legislature and published by FHSMV. When the license plate on the presale voucher becomes authorized, the voucher can only be used with the issuance of that specific license plate; which can be processed at the time the license plate becomes available or when the customer’s current license plate is renewed. If the plate fails to meet the presale voucher requirements within the two-year period the plate will not be manufactured and the customer may apply the presale voucher towards a different specialty license plate or apply for a refund for the specialty license plate fee only. Form HSMV 83363 is used to apply for a refund. Also, FLHSMV may de-authorize a specialty license plate and discontinue its issuance if the number of valid specialty license plate registrations falls below 4,000 valid registrations for out-of-state colleges or universities for at least 12 consecutive months. If the plate associated with the presale voucher meets the voucher minimum but is subsequently de-authorized before the voucher is used, the voucher cannot be used towards a different specialty plate or be refunded.
Governor Ron DeSantis enacted into law HB1135 on September 18, 2020, which authorized the creation of a specialty license plate to promote the need for lifesaving organ and tissue donors. The Donate Life Florida specialty plate was requested by Donate Life Florida, the non-profit coalition of Florida’s organ, eye and tissue donor programs. Donate Life Florida manages the state’s donor registry and encourages Floridians to register their decision to become lifesaving donors. You can order by clicking here (additional fees apply) or at your local Tax Collector's office or DMV. "Donate Life Florida receives no tax-payer dollars for business operations or to manage the state’s donor registry,” said Ashley Moore, chairwoman of Donate Life Florida. “We rely entirely on voluntary contributions. The fee associated with the sale of this license plate will provide tremendous resources to help us in our mission to save more lives through organ, eye and tissue donation.”
The legislation requires Donate Life Florida to presell 3,000 vouchers toward the purchase of the new license plate within a 24-month timeframe before production can begin. Donate Life Florida has launched a virtual campaign to bring awareness and promote the new specialty plate. There are more than 108,000 patients awaiting organ transplants across the nation, and of those, more than 5,200 are listed at transplant centers in Florida. One organ donor can save the lives of up to eight individuals, and one tissue donor can enhance the lives of up to 75 people. You can purchase the presale voucher online by clicking here. You can also purchase at your local Tax Collector's office. If you want to know how you can register to become an organ donor, visit www.DonateLifeFlorida.org. The Marino family started the Dan Marino Foundation 28 years ago with a vision that has become reality, focusing on creating opportunities leading to employment and independence for individuals with autism and other disabilities. The Dan Marino Foundation created the Dan Marino Campus specialty license plate to generate funding that will assist Floridians with disabilities to become employed, independent, and to lead productive lives. It will also generate awareness of the Marino Campus' services and will help to promote and fund education scholarships related to these services.
"This is a great looking plate that we hope both fans of Dan Marino and supporters of the Dan Marino Foundation and the Unique Abilities movement will pre-order for their cars or motorcycles, as well as drivers that just want a unique looking plate," said Mary Partin, CEO of the Dan Marino Foundation. "The pre-order process is easy, and every purchase brings us closer to the required sale of 3,000 plates." As part of the specialty license plate bill signed by Governor Ron DeSantis, the bill approved the creation of a “super tag” template for nine black fraternities and sororities dubbed the “Divine 9”: Alpha Phi Alpha Alpha Kappa Alpha Kappa Alpha Psi Omega Psi Phi Delta Sigma Theta Phi Beta Sigma Zeta Phi Beta Sigma Gamma Rho Iota Phi Theta. The group of plates have to collect a combined 3,000 presales before becoming eligible for production. You can order by clicking here (additional fees apply) or at your local Tax Collector's office or DMV. Florida 4-H has two years to reach this pre-sale goal. One-hundred percent of the $25 specialty license plate fee will go directly toward statewide leadership programs like 4-H University and 4-H Legislature, the Florida 4-H camping program and 4-H youth competitive teams, said Michael Gutter, associate dean of University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences Extension and 4-H state program leader. This announcement comes during National 4-H Week. The theme for this year’s week, “Opportunity 4 All,” is aimed at helping more underrepresented youths experience the benefits of the 4-H program. “The 4-H specialty plate will help make these benefits more accessible,” Gutter said. Florida Breast Cancer Foundation is the Focus of Pasco COUNTY Tax Collector's Office in October.10/1/2020 ![]() During the month of October, the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation will be the featured charitable giving organization at the Pasco County Tax Collector’s Office. The Florida Breast Cancer Foundation’s main objectives are to advocate on behalf of patients, educate the public on all aspects of breast cancer and to provide funds for research seeking new treatments and ultimately a cure for breast cancer. For the seventh year in a row the Pasco County Tax Collector’s Office has teamed up with the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation to raise funds and heighten awareness of this disease and the treatments options available. “There is no doubt this year has challenged us all in ways unprecedented and unimaginable,” comments Tracy Jacim, President & CEO of the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation. “But, just like our resilient and inspiring breast cancer survivors, we have all had to learn to adapt, be flexible, and draw on our resilience. I am so very proud of our team, a big part of which is our dedicated partners like the Pasco County Tax Collector’s Office. Together, we are continuing to forge ahead and help those in need. This year, in spite of the pandemic, we are proud to announce the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation funded $600,000.00 in Scientific Research Grants, $100,000.00 in Education Grants, $52,000.00 in Direct Service Grants (living expense and mammogram programs), and we will begin distribution of our COVID-19 Emergency Assistance Fund October 1st right in time with “National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.” Since 2013 the combined efforts of the team at the Pasco County Tax Collector’s Office on behalf of our Foundation have been remarkable. Not only do they support and encourage the purchase of the “End Breast Cancer” specialty license plate and the giving of voluntary contributions when it comes time for their residents to renew their plates, but they raise funds separately from those programs that fund research critical to improving therapies and finding cures for breast cancer. Thank you to Mr. Mike Fasano and the passionate and committed team at the Pasco County Tax Collector’s Office for joining FBCF in our mission year after year. Through their support, they make it possible for us to continue to touch lives and move toward a tomorrow where the suffering caused by breast cancer today is no more.” Individuals who have automobile registration renewals coming due in October may choose to trade in their regular license plate for the “End Breast Cancer” specialty tag. Customers may also purchase the tag for newly registered vehicles. The proceeds from the tag promotion will go directly to the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation to help Floridians battling with this disease. Additionally, customers may choose to use the voluntary check-off box on their registration form and donate directly to the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation. The tax offices will also accept other cash donations on behalf of the Foundation.
“We are proud to once again team up with the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation to help shine a spotlight on the needs of breast cancer patients,” states Tax Collector Mike Fasano. “The Foundation works tirelessly to fund institutions that work on finding a cure for breast cancer as well as creating better treatment options for breast cancer patients. The funds our office raises will help advance research, new treatments and direct support for breast cancer patients. The Pasco County Tax Collector’s Office and the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation are committed to doing all we can to stop this disease and ultimately find a cure.” For more details regarding this promotion or services provided by the Pasco County Tax Collector’s Office please contact Greg Giordano, Assistant Tax Collector at 727-847-8179 or visit www.pascotaxes.com .
