While you're checking out at PDQ, you can donate to the Best Buddies Program, or donate by purchasing a Tom Brady license plate. 3,000 presale vouchers must be purchased to make it a reality and provide annually recurring revenue for the nonprofit. As of August 22, 2021, 429 have been purchased, with a further 2,571 required, prior to October 1, 2022. The next time you're at PDQ (People Dedicated to Quality) ordering a chicken sandwich or a milkshake, you will have the opportunity to make a donation to Best Buddies Jobs program, which supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The fundraiser kicked off at all 45 PDQ Florida locations, and runs through Aug. 31. Its purpose is to raise awareness for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. If you would like to support IDD, you can round up your payment to the nearest dollar amount when checking out at a register, or you can make a donation. One hundred percent of all funds raised will be donated directly to Best Buddies in Florida to assist with their programs, PDQ staff said. Another way PDQ is donating to Best Buddies is through Tom Brady x Best Buddies specialty license plate. Fans who want one of these license plates can pre-order and receive $12 off when entering code "PDQ" at checkout. "PDQ's relationship with the Buccaneers aligns perfectly with our Global Ambassador Tom Brady and his long-standing commitment to our cause," Anthony K. Shriver, founder, chairman and CEO of Best Buddies International, said. "We are excited to offer PDQ customers and Bucs fans the chance to be one of the first to own the specialty plate featuring Tom Brady in support of Best Buddies." The Best Buddies Jobs program secures employment opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), allowing them to earn an income, pay taxes, and continuously and independently support themselves. Through the Jobs program. As of 2021, PDQ has six Best Buddies employees, and they have a goal to hire more, a news release said. "Inclusion is one of our core values as a brand, and we are excited to expand our partnership with Best Buddies and the incredible work they do with so many individuals and families," PDQ CEO and Co-Founder Nick Reader said. "This relationship began more than eight years ago when Sam Piazza joined our PDQ team, and we look forward to welcoming many more team members that are People Dedicated to Quality through this initiative. This campaign allows us the opportunity to raise much-needed funds for Sam, as well as other current and future PDQ team members through Best Buddies." Piazza, who lives with Down syndrome, remains employed with PDQ, and inspires others to be inclusive through a film documentary, "Because of Sam," starring him. Tampa native and filmmaker, Renee Warmack, created the documentary. Piazza is also a Tampa native. More information about the documentary can be viewed here.
